Winterreise is an absolute fundamental of the German Lied, and has strongly influenced not only the style but also the vocal method and technique in German classical music as a whole. The resources of intellect and interpretative power required to deliver the cycle challenge the greatest singers.

Shropshire baritone Peter Edge graduated from the Royal College of Music, London, as a Master of Music in Vocal Performance with Distinction, where he was supported by the Walker Trust and tutored by Peter Savidge. Recent competition successes include winning the Chris Treglown Memorial Award and John Kerr Award for English Song, as well as being runner-up in the Lesley Garrett Opera Prize and David Clover Singer’s Platform Recital Competition.
John Gough is a Tutor in Piano at Undergraduate and Post Graduate level at the Royal Northern College of Music. He studied at RNCM on Associated Board Scholarship and was first pianist to graduate with a First Class Honours Degree and the Professional Perfomance Diploma with Distinction in the same year.
He won the John Ireland Centenary Piano Competition and has since broadcast many of his works on BBC Radio. He has considerable experience in solo and chamber music playing and more recently, song recitals.
