The London Song Festival is delighted that the 2022 masterclass will be given by Sir Thomas Allen and will take place on Saturday 3rd December. The masterclass will be held in public and will take place at Hinde Street Methodist Church, London W1U 2QJ, nearest tube Bond Street. There will be two sessions; at 10:30 and 14:00. The masterclass will incorporate the British Art Song Competition (BASC) – at the end of the masterclass, Sir Thomas will be asked to select the best duo, who will receive a cash prize and be invited to give a recital as part of the 2023 London Song Festival. We would like to thank the Vaughan Williams Society for their kind support of this masterclass and competition

The masterclass is open to voice and piano duos aged 32 and under. Each duo will be required to present two songs in English, at least one of which should be by our featured composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. In order to encourage exploration of lesser-known songs, it has been decided that Silent Noon and Linden Lea, though they are both wonderful songs, should not be selected for this masterclass and competition. 

Peter Edge and Frasier Hickland have won a place to sing in this masterclass.
